Where are all the Libertarian candidates?

If you’ve looked at your voter guide, you may be wondering which candidates running in the June 7 California Primary are Libertarian.

The truth is, there are several local and Assembly District candidates, but no one at the state level. Why?

The Top Two Primary set up has really hindered our ability to compete in state elections… Unfortunately, we could not find a serious candidate for Governor this time around.

…[E]lecting Libertarians at the local level has a much greater impact on advancing liberty and getting the Party where it needs to be, so we can be competitive on the state level.”

~Matthew Butts, LPC Central Area Coordinator

The Chair of the Fresno County affiliate, adds:

We can’t endorse a non-Libertarian. It’s a losing race that costs time and money, and that is better spent on the local, winnable races throughout the state.

~Kat McElroy, LPFC Chair

Nonetheless, keep your eyes out in the next 2 weeks for more information from Libertarian groups around the state on the candidates at both the state and local level, including a Fresno County LP Voter Guide, to be released next week!
