The Libertarian Party of California also opposes the following statewide propositions appearing on the November 8th ballot (see September issue of The Beacon newsletter):

Proposition 26 Allows In-Person Roulette, Dice Games, Sports Wagering on Tribal Lands. Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute. (PDF)

  • Vote No. This law further regulates and taxes an activity that the government has no business being involved in.

Proposition 27 Allows Online and Mobile Sports Wagering Outside Tribal Lands. Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute. (PDF)

  • Vote No. Though the Libertarian Party of California supports the right of consenting adults to wager bets on sporting events, we do not believe the State has the right to regulate or tax such activities

Proposition 28 Provides Additional Funding for Arts and Music Education in Public Schools. Initiative Statute. (PDF)

  • Vote No. The state should fund students and not institutions. Furthermore, the funding of curriculums should be made by the schools and not legislators.

Proposition 29 Requires On-Site Licensed Medical Professional at Kidney Dialysis Clinics and Establishes Other State Requirements. Initiative Statute. (PDF)

  • Vote No. Government involvement in healthcare will always result in poorer and costlier outcomes for patients.

Proposition 30 Provides Funding for Programs to Reduce Air Pollution and Prevent Wildfires by Increasing Tax on Personal Income Over $2 Million. Initiative Statute. (PDF)

  • Vote No. The State of California has demonstrated time and again its inability to properly manage public money. All surplus taxes should be returned to taxpayers. Sustainable clean energy solutions can only come from a free market.

Proposition 31 Referendum On 2020 Law That Would Prohibit the Retail Sale of Certain Flavored Tobacco Products. (PDF)

  • Vote No. This is a violation of personal autonomy and choice.
